The illogical choice to leave
patternbreaking podcast - episode 5
What do you do when your life is beautiful… and you still feel called to leave it?
In this episode, I take you back to a place that shaped me: Camas Prairie in western Montana.
A vast, improbable landscape formed by a catastrophic flood, where you can still see the ancient water lines etched into the hills.
It’s the place where I felt most connected to the earth, to time, to something bigger than myself.
It’s also the place where I felt a quiet, persistent tension for years.
I was farming, building a life, deeply rooted in community and land. I felt grateful so alive.
But at the same time, I felt this unshakable knowing that I wasn’t meant to stay.
We talk about wildness, identity, the difference between a life that nourishes you and a life that holds you, and what it means to feel called toward something that makes no logical sense.
This isn’t about dissatisfaction because something is wrong.
It’s about the kind of longing that shows up even when everything is right.
Sometimes a place can give you everything…
and still not be your final destination.
